Schillig

Schillig is a small village in the Friesland district of Lower Saxony, Germany. It sits on the west coast of Jade Bay, about 20 kilometers north of Wilhelmshaven. The population was 113 in 2011.

The approaches to Jade Bay and Wilhelmshaven are known as the Schillig Roads. When you drive to Schillig, you can choose two routes: the northwest road along the land side of the sea barrier leads to farms, houses, a few hotels and shops, and access to the top of the sea barrier; the northeast road crosses the sea barrier toward the camping site, beach and parking areas. Access to these spots is controlled by automated barriers and requires paying fees.
