Sapthami Gowda
Sapthami Gowda (born 8 June 1996) is an Indian actress who works mainly in Kannada cinema. She was born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to inspector S. K. Umesh Gowda and Shanta Gowda. She studied at Baldwin Girls’ High School and Sri Kumaran Composite Junior College, and earned a Civil Engineering degree from the Bangalore Institute of Technology. She is trained in swimming and has won several medals.
Sapthami began her acting career with the 2020 Kannada film Popcorn Monkey Tiger, directed by Duniya Suri. She gained wide recognition for her role as Leela in Kantara (2022), directed by Rishab Shetty, which earned her a Filmfare Award South and two SIIMA Awards.
She has also acted in Yuva and made her Bollywood debut with The Vaccine War (2023), directed by Vivek Agnihotri, where her screen time was limited but she received praise. She is set to make her Telugu debut in Thamuudu opposite Nithin, directed by Venu Sriram, and there were reports of a potential project Kaali with Abhishek Ambareesh.
Off-camera, Sapthami has served as the ambassador for the Karnataka government’s Nanna Maithri scheme to distribute menstrual cups to adolescent girls, and was the brand ambassador for the 3rd T-20 World Cup edition of Blind Cricket in 2022, organized by the Samarthanam Trust.
