Roseomonas aeriglobus

Roseomonas aeriglobus is a Gram-negative, strictly aerobic bacterium. It is coccobacillus-shaped and pink in color. It was first isolated from a laboratory air-conditioning system in South Korea and described as a new species in 2017. The name comes from Latin aer (air) and globus (sphere), highlighting its association with air and its shape. A related species, Roseomonas aerofrigidensis, was also found in an air conditioner.

Growth and conditions: It grows best at 25–30°C but can grow in the 10–30°C range. The optimum pH is 6.0–7.0, and it can grow from pH 4.0 to 9.0.

Taxonomy: Domain Bacteria; Kingdom Pseudomonadati; Phylum Pseudomonadota; Class Alphaproteobacteria; Order Rhodospirillales; Family Acetobacteraceae; Genus Roseomonas; Species R. aeriglobus. Binomial name: Roseomonas aeriglobus. Described by Lee in 2017.
