Rochemaure
Rochemaure is a small commune in southern France, located in the Ardèche department within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It covers about 24.3 square kilometers and sits at elevations from 55 to 682 meters above sea level.
As of 2023, the population was 2,239, giving a population density of around 92 people per square kilometer. The coordinates are approximately 44.5883°N, 4.704°E.
The commune’s INSEE code is 07191 and the postal code is 07400. The current mayor (2020–2026) is Olivier Faure.
Rochemaure is known as a “village of character,” but a major departmental road runs through the village. There is a proposed road deviation to improve safety for cyclists on the Viarhonna route and for local schoolchildren.
In Occitan, the village is called Ròchamaura.
