Rio Formoso
Rio Formoso is a municipality in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. It covers about 239.8 square kilometers and sits about 5 meters above sea level. In 2020, around 23,628 people lived there. The name means "Handsome River." The area includes part of the Saltinho Biological Reserve, a protected 562-hectare area established in 1983. Rio Formoso has two beaches, and the main attraction is the estuary of the Formoso River, surrounded by coconut groves, sand banks and natural reefs. The economy centers on the food and beverage industry and farming, especially coconuts, sugarcane and cattle.
