Richie Porte
Richie Porte is an Australian former professional road cyclist who raced from 2008 to 2022. He rode for Saxo Bank, Team Sky, BMC Racing Team, Trek–Segafredo and Ineos Grenadiers, and was known as an all‑rounder with strong time‑trial ability.
Porte won eight World Tour events, including Paris–Nice in 2013 and 2015, the Volta a Catalunya in 2015, the Tour Down Under in 2017 and 2020, the Tour de Suisse in 2018, the Tour de Romandie in 2017, and the Critérium du Dauphiné in 2021. He also claimed the Giro d'Italia Young Rider classification in 2010, and victories at Giro del Trentino (2015) and Volta ao Algarve (2012). In the Tour de France, he was part of the winning Team Time Trial squad in 2018 and finished 3rd overall in 2020.
Born in Launceston, Tasmania, Porte grew up in Australia and spent many years racing in Europe before returning to Tasmania after his retirement. He finished 3rd in the 2020 Tour de France, and later led teams as a captain before retiring in 2022. He moved back to Tasmania in 2023.
