Puyallup station
Puyallup station is a Sound Transit commuter rail stop on the S Line in downtown Puyallup, Washington. It’s located at 131 West Main Avenue and has two side platforms on two tracks at ground level, with bus bays nearby and a large park‑and‑ride.
Opened on February 5, 2001, the station sits on the site of Puyallup’s old 1877 depot (demolished in 1974). The parking area was expanded to accommodate more than 1,000 spaces, with a five‑story parking garage opening in March 2023. The station also has bicycle racks and lockers, and shelters designed in a Craftsman style with a public art piece.
Service and connections: Puyallup is served by 13 weekday S Line round‑trips, running between Seattle and Tacoma/Lakewood. Trains take about 49 minutes to Seattle and 13 minutes to Tacoma. Weekend special trains run to support the Washington State Fair, with free shuttles to the fairgrounds.
Bus connections include Sound Transit Express and Pierce Transit routes. Route 578 goes from Puyallup to Seattle via Sumner and Auburn, while Pierce Transit serves areas such as South Hill Mall, Tacoma, and Federal Way. The Puyallup Connector shuttle links downtown stops to South Hill.
Facilities and design: the station features multiple shelters, extensive pedestrian walkways to downtown, and art that reflects local history.
