Portal to Portal Act of 1947 (29 U.S.C. §§ 251–262) is a U.S. law that narrows the remedies available under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938. It was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress along with the Taft-Hartley Act to curb workers’ and unions’ rights in enforcing minimum-wage rules. The Act sets a two-year statute of limitations for most FLSA, Walsh-Healey, and Davis-Bacon claims, and allows a three-year limit for willful violations (the three-year provision was added in 1966).
