Placido Campolo (1693–1743) was an Italian Baroque painter from Messina, Sicily. He trained in Rome with Sebastiano Conca, then returned to Messina in 1731 to work on the Galleria del Senato. He died of the plague in 1743. Campolo painted for Messina’s cathedral and for the church of Sant'Angelo de Rossi (notably Defeat of the Fallen Angels), and he helped design the entrances and steps for the church of Monte di Pieta degli Azzurri. He has an entry in the Benezit Dictionary of Artists.
