Pflanzengarten Bad Schandau is a small botanical garden in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, in Bad Schandau, Saxony, Germany. It covers about 6100 square meters and is open daily from April to October. The garden opened in 1902 as the Saxon Regional Botanical Garden to protect local plants, including rare poisonous and medicinal species. By 2002 it had nearly 1000 plant types from cool, moist climates around the world, but its main focus is on plants from the Saxon Switzerland area. It includes 323 native species, about 80 of which are protected or listed on Saxony’s Red List. The Bad Schandau area also offers many sights, restaurants and outdoor activities that celebrate regional, seasonal ingredients.
