Periodontosis
Periodontosis is an outdated name for a supposed noninflammatory, degenerative bone loss around the teeth. It was described as diffuse atrophy of the alveolar bone and was thought to be rare and mainly in young people. In reality, almost all cases involved some gum inflammation, so it isn’t considered a separate disease today. The term has been replaced by current classifications of periodontal disease.
