Paul Panzer
Paul Wolfgang Panzerbeiter, known professionally as Paul Panzer, was a German-American silent film actor who appeared in more than 330 films from 1905 to 1952. He was born November 3, 1872, in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany, and died August 16, 1958, in Hollywood, California.
Panzer studied pharmacy at the University of Würzburg and vocal music at the Conservatory of Würzburg. He served as a lieutenant in Germany’s artillery reserves before moving to the United States, where he built sets and painted scenery for a New York film studio and worked in live theatre with Augustin Daly. He was best known for his role as Koerner/Raymond Owen in The Perils of Pauline. From 1934 through the 1950s he often worked as an extra under contract with Warner Bros.
He and his wife, Josephine Panzer, had two children. After retiring, he lived with his daughter in Culver City, California. He is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.
