OhMiBod is an American company that makes sex toys. It was founded in 2006 by Suki Dunham and Brian Dunham and is based in New Hampshire, with products sold worldwide. The most famous product, OhMiBod, started as a vibrating toy that could respond to music. The idea was to turn the beat and volume of a song into vibrations, making the device feel more socially acceptable.

Originally targeted at iPod users, the product’s packaging and design drew comparisons to the iPod. The brand also offered ClubVibe, a feature that let users anonymously share playlists and experiences.

Over the years, OhMiBod expanded its lineup. A smaller “nano” version was released, and in 2008 the toy gained compatibility with the iPhone, so it could respond to ringtones and voice calls. A MacLife review in 2008 noted that the vibrator could be distractingly loud when used with iPod earbuds.

OhMiBod’s products have appeared in other contexts as well, including use by webcam models who program the toy to vibrate to tips. There’s also Body Heat, an iPhone app that lets users control a compatible OhMiBod vibrator’s speed, intensity, and patterns. The Body Heat app’s prototype was shown at the Arse Elektronika sex-technology conference in 2010, and the OhMiBod team later acquired the project. Heather Kelley, the app’s designer, has worked with OhMiBod on upgrades to the software.

Today, OhMiBod remains a global player in its field, continuing to develop flagship toys and related software. For more information, visit ohmibod.com.
