Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M. V. Lomonosov (NArFU) is a federal university in Arkhangelsk, Russia. It was created in 2010 by a decree of President Dmitry Medvedev, based on Arkhangelsk State Technical University (ASTU). In 2011, it merged with M.V. Lomonosov Pomor State University, Emperor Peter I Forestry Engineering College in Arkhangelsk, and Severodvinsk Technical College and was renamed NArFU. The university is named after the 18th-century scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, who was born in the Arkhangelsk region. The rector is Elena V. Kudryashova.

NArFU has seven higher schools and two campuses in Severodvinsk and Koryazhma. It serves about 18,000 students and more than 400 postgraduates. The Higher School of Energy, Oil and Gas trains bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students with modern knowledge and practical skills required by energy and oil-and-gas companies. The Higher School of Psychology and Pedagogical Education was established in 2016 from former Pomor State University institutes, including Pedagogy, Psychology, and Physical Education, Sport and Health.

Branches are planned in Kotlas and the Nenets Autonomous District. The Arctic Floating University is a program run with Roshydromet and the Arkhangelsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society. NArFU also has a cooperation agreement with the Russian Bandy Federation.
