Nikki van der Zyl
Nikki van der Zyl (born Monica van der Zyl) was a German-born actress who lived in the United Kingdom. She was born on 27 April 1935 in Berlin and died on 6 March 2021 in London at the age of 85 after a stroke. She is best known for her voice work in the James Bond films. In Dr. No (1962), she voiced Honey Ryder (the character played by Ursula Andress) and several other female characters, and she also coached Gert Fröbe in English for Goldfinger (1964). She continued to provide voices for Bond films up to Moonraker (1979). Outside of film, she worked as an artist, poet and public speaker.
In January 2013 she published For Your Ears Only, later translated into German in 2015. A Berlin exhibition titled Night Flight to Berlin ran from 2013 to 2014 at the Museum Pankow, charting parts of her life, including her Bond work and later roles as a barrister and political correspondent in London. On 20 September 2014 she attended the 50th anniversary screening of Goldfinger in Braunschweig and was made an honorary member of the James Bond Club Deutschland. She was the daughter of Anneliese and Rabbi Dr. Werner van der Zyl.
