Netherlands–Peru relations
Netherlands–Peru relations are the diplomatic and economic ties between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Peru. Both nations were once part of the Spanish Empire, and they established official relations in 1826. Peru maintained ties with the Dutch government-in-exile during World War II, and relations were upgraded from a legation to an embassy in 1956. The Dutch ambassador in Lima and the Peruvian embassy in The Hague are the main diplomatic missions.
Economy and trade: The two countries work under the EU-Peru Trade Agreement, which has been in force since March 1, 2013. Dutch investments in Peru include the port of Callao and the Makro store chain, among others. Agriculture is a strong area of cooperation, with the Netherlands being the largest importer of Peruvian fruit and the second-largest importer of Peruvian vegetables worldwide.
People and visits: A Peruvian community exists in the Netherlands, numbering about 71,788 in 2020. There have been high-level visits between the Netherlands and Peru in both directions.
