Naevus (band)
Naevus is a British experimental rock band from London, formed in 1998 by Lloyd James and Joanne Owen. They mix neofolk with post-punk, acoustic, and industrial sounds. After releasing four albums between 1999 and 2004, they added John Murphy (drums) and Greg Ferrari (electric guitar), becoming a four‑piece. Their first album with the expanded lineup, Silent Life, was well received and featured guests from Urge Within, Sieben, and Current 93. Their sixth album Relatively Close to the Sea blended their earlier post-punk style with more melodic and progressive rock elements.
Drummer Hunter Barr rejoined in 2009, and the Days That Go EP followed in 2010. The seventh album, The Division of Labour, was completed by Lloyd James as a solo project and released in May 2012. In 2013 they released the compilation Stations and Others, collecting singles, B-sides and unreleased material. The 2014 EP Backsaddling came next, followed by Curses (2018), Time Again (2020), and Raise Your Puppet (2025). Over the years Naevus has worked with many labels and undergone lineup changes. They have performed at festivals around the world, including Nocturnal Culture Night in Germany in 2015.
