Morley Park
Morley Park is an area in Heage, within the parish of Ripley, Derbyshire, England. It sits about five miles north of Morley and north of Derby.
Historically, after the Norman Conquest it formed part of the wapentake of Morleyston. In Henry II’s reign it was within the Forest of East Derbyshire. When the forest was disafforested in 1225, it may have joined Duffield Frith as Bradley manor was added to Belper. In 1266 the area became part of the Duchy of Lancaster. It was one of seven royal parks inside the Frith, with the smaller Belper or Lady Park nearby.
In the 19th century Morley Park housed iron smelting furnaces, and a number of them survive and can be seen from the A38.
