Monmouth Hawks men's basketball represents Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. They compete in the Coastal Athletic Association and play home games at OceanFirst Bank Center (capacity 4,100). Head coach King Rice is in his 15th season, and the team wears midnight blue and white. The Hawks have appeared in four NCAA Division I tournaments (1996, 2001, 2004, 2006) with a 1–4 record and last played in the NCAA Tournament in 2006. The program has also played in two National Invitation Tournaments (NITs) and has a history of appearances in other national tournaments at lower levels. Notably, they defeated several power conference teams, including UCLA, Notre Dame, USC, Georgetown, and Rutgers, and earned AP poll votes for the first time in the 2015–16 season.
