Matteo Darmian (born 2 December 1989) is an Italian professional footballer who plays for Inter Milan in Serie A and the Italy national team. A versatile defender, he can play as a right-back, left-back, wing-back, or even in midfield.

Darmian grew up in Rescaldina and began his career with AC Milan, making his senior debut in 2006 at age 16 and his Serie A debut in 2007 at 17. After a loan at Padova (2009–2010), he joined Palermo (2010–2011) and then Torino (2011–2015), where he established himself in Italy’s top flight.

In July 2015, Darmian signed with Manchester United for around £12–13 million. He won the FA Cup in 2016 and the Europa League in 2017 during his time in England. He moved to Parma in 2019, and in 2020 went on loan to Inter Milan, with Inter making the transfer permanent in 2021. He helped Inter win the Serie A title in the 2020–21 season.

Internationally, Darmian made his Italy debut in May 2014. He played at the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016, where he contributed to a late winner against Spain in the round of 16 and later appeared at Euro 2024. After a period away from the national team, he was recalled in 2023 and scored for Italy against North Macedonia.

Known for his pace, stamina, and tactical awareness, Darmian is two-footed and can operate on either flank. He credits his father Giovanni for his early coaching and was spotted by AC Milan scout Beniamino Abate before joining Milan’s youth system.
