Maharao
Maharao is a royal title in India, similar to Maharaja and meaning "great king" in Hindi. It comes from Maha- meaning "great" and Rao, a form of Raja. Some rulers with the title Maharao received gun salutes when their princely states joined the Dominion of India around 14 August 1947. Maharao is also used as a given name and a surname in India.
