Maang Bharo Sajana
Maang Bharo Sajana is a 1980 Hindi drama directed by T. Rama Rao, who also wrote the screenplay. It is a remake of the Telugu film Karthika Deepam (1979). The movie stars Jeetendra, Rekha, Moushumi Chatterjee and Kajal Kiran, with music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. It was produced by A. Poornachandra Rao and released on 7 November 1980, with a runtime of 151 minutes. The film did well at the box office, earning about ₹4.3 crore.
Plot
Chandu, the son of Ram and Sita, loves Geeta Sinha, daughter of Doctor Sinha. Geeta’s father forbids their marriage. Chandu and Geeta elope and marry, while Ram supports them. The story then reveals Ram’s past: he once rescued Radha, a prostitute, and married Sita; they had a son named Shaam. Believing Radha dead after a flood, Ram stayed with Sita. Years later, Radha reappears, pregnant with Ram’s child. Ram faces a dilemma between two loves. When Sita learns the truth, she chooses to stand by Ram and Radha. After Radha becomes ill, Sita and Ram vow to raise Radha’s baby as their own son, Chandu. The tale ends with forgiveness and the marriage of Geeta and Chandu, blessed by all.
Production notes
Filming was planned to begin on 8 February 1980. Kavita Krishnamurthy provided playback singing for the songs, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
