Míchel, full name José Miguel González Martín del Campo, was born on 23 March 1963 in Madrid, Spain. He is a former professional footballer who played mainly as a right midfielder and later became a manager.

Club career: He spent most of his playing days with Real Madrid, from the early 1980s until 1996, helping the club win six La Liga titles and two UEFA Cups. He started at Castilla and moved to the Real Madrid first team, becoming a key player known for his crossing and assists. He finished his playing career with Celaya in Mexico in 1997 after a knee injury.

International career: Míchel earned 66 caps for Spain and scored 21 goals between 1985 and 1992. He played in the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, including a hat-trick against South Korea in 1990, and also played at Euro 1988.

Coaching career: He began managing in 2005, taking charge of Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid B, and Getafe, before guiding Sevilla, Olympiacos, Marseille, Málaga, and Pumas UNAM. He had two spells with Olympiacos and later coached Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, helping them win promotion to the Pro League and reach the King’s Cup final.

Personal: He is the son of a footballer who had to retire after a road accident. He joined Real Madrid at age 13 and became part of the famous La Quinta del Buitre generation.
