Lollia gens
The gens Lollia was a plebeian Roman family that shows up in history only in the late Republic. The first Lollius to become consul was Marcus Lollius in 21 BC. The Lollii were probably of Samnite or Sabine origin: a Samnite named Lollius is mentioned in the Pyrrhic War, and Marcus Lollius Palicanus, who was tribune of the plebs in 71 BC, is described as a native of Picenum. The praenomina used by the Lollii were Quintus, Marcus, Lucius, and Gnaeus. During the Republic the only known cognomen was Palicanus, but other surnames appear under the Empire.
