Lachlan Shire

Lachlan Shire is a local government area in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. It covers about 15,000 square kilometres and has around 6,150 residents. The council seat and largest town is Condobolin. The Shire sits along the Lachlan River and is served by the Lachlan Valley Way and the Broken Hill railway line. It also includes the towns of Albert, Burcher, Fifield, Lake Cargelligo, Tottenham and Tullibigeal.

The mayor is John Medcalf, who is not affiliated with any political party. Lachlan Shire Council is made up of ten councillors elected from five wards (two councillors per ward). Councillors serve four-year terms, and the mayor is chosen by the councillors at their first meeting. The Shire has several heritage-listed sites, and the current council was elected in 2021.
