Kevin Ruf (born December 7, 1961) is an American actor, comedian, and attorney. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and grew up in Saratoga, California, where he attended Saratoga High School and played inside linebacker on the football team. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley. Ruf is a member of The Groundlings improv troupe and has written for Saturday Night Live. He appeared as the newsman on ABC's Primetime Live segment That Was The Week That Was. He starred on Comedy Central's Halfway Home as Kenny Carlyle, the house supervisor. As a lawyer, he argued and won before the California Supreme Court in 2006 in Smith v. L'Oreal, expanding day laborer rights. He guest-starred on Reno 911! in 2008 as Kyle Overstreet. In 2019 he was named California Lawyer of the Year for his work in the Dynamex case (Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court).
