Kętrzyn County
Kętrzyn County is a county in northern Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, on the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast. It was created on January 1, 1999. The administrative seat and biggest town is Kętrzyn, and the county also includes the towns of Reszel and Korsze. The area covers about 1,213 square kilometers. As of 2006, about 66,165 people lived there, with roughly 37,730 in towns and 28,435 in rural areas. The county is divided into six gminas: one urban, two urban-rural, and three rural. It borders Węgorzewo, Giżycko, Mrągowo, Olsztyn, and Bartoszyce counties, and to the north it borders Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast). Vehicle plates start with NKE.
