Juan Ramos (soccer)
Juan Ramos, also known as John or Johnny Ramos, is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in Germany and the United States. He grew up in Florida, graduated from J. P. Taravella High School, and played college soccer at Nova Southeastern University, earning a psychology degree.
In his pro career, he spent time in Germany with Spandauer BC and Spandauer SV from 1996 to 1997. He then returned to the United States to play for the Florida Strikers (1997), the Jacksonville Cyclones (1998, 23 appearances, 0 goals), and the Boston Bulldogs (1999, 2 appearances). The Miami Fusion selected him in the 1999 MLS Supplemental Draft (second round, 17th overall), but he was waived on February 26, 1999. He later played for Raleigh Capital Express. In February 2006, he signed with Miami FC of the USL First Division after an open tryout, making eight appearances.
Ramos has coached at Cypress Bay High School, American Heritage School, and Plantation FC. In 2016, he was arrested on charges of sexually abusing a former player who was 13 years old at the time. In 2022, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
