Joseph Bentley Bennett (April 21, 1859 – November 7, 1923) was a U.S. Representative from Kentucky. Born in Greenup County, he attended local schools and Greenup Academy, taught in public schools, and studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1878 and began practicing in 1880. Bennett also ran a mercantile business starting in 1885. He served as Greenup County judge from 1894 to 1897, was reelected and served until 1901, and was a member of Kentucky’s Republican State Central Committee in 1900 and 1904. He was elected to the Fifty-ninth, Sixtieth, and Sixty-first Congresses, representing Kentucky’s 9th district from March 4, 1905 to March 3, 1911. After an unsuccessful run for reelection in 1910, he returned to his law practice in Greenup. He died there on November 7, 1923, and is buried in Riverview Cemetery.
