John Dowling (rugby league)
John Michael Dowling (born 3 April 1953 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales) is a former Australian rugby league player who played as a hooker in the 1970s and 1980s. He started with Eastern Suburbs in 1972, moved to Wynnum-Manly in 1974, and joined the St. George Dragons in 1979, remaining there until 1984. During his time at St. George, he made 117 first-grade appearances and scored 13 tries and 15 goals. He finished his top-level club career with Northern Suburbs in 1985, playing 8 games. In total, Dowling played 125 first-grade games and scored 70 points. He represented Queensland in three State of Origin matches in 1982. After retiring from playing, he served as a reserve-grade coach at St. George under Craig Young in 1989–1990.
