Jay Anson
Jay Anson (November 4, 1921 – March 12, 1980) was an American writer known for The Amityville Horror. He was born in New York City. The Amityville Horror, published after the December 1975 experiences of George and Kathleen Lutz at 112 Ocean Avenue, was promoted as a true story. The Lutzes sold the rights to Anson, who added to and altered some of their claims. He also wrote 666, another book about a haunted house. A film based on The Amityville Horror was released in 1979. Anson died in Palo Alto, California, in 1980 at age 58.
