Inquisitor varicosus is a sea snail in the family Pseudomelatomidae. The shell length is about 40–60 mm. The whorls are smooth near the suture and ribbed below, with large, scattered varices (thickened ribs). The sinus (a notch at the shell opening) is broad and deep. The ribs are gray on a darker shell, sometimes brown all over. This species is found in the western Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, Mauritius, Sulawesi, Indonesia, and Western Australia. It has also been called Drillia varicosa in the past.
