Hamilton Amateur Athletic Association Grounds
Hamilton Amateur Athletic Association Grounds, also known as HAAA Grounds, is a park on the north side of Charlton Avenue West in Hamilton, Ontario, between Locke Street South and Queen Street South. It was the home field for the Hamilton Tigers from 1872 to 1949, and before 1949 it hosted McMaster Marauders football. In 1950 the Tigers merged with the Hamilton Wildcats to form the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Tiger-Cats played at Civic Stadium (later Ivor Wynne Stadium) as their home field from then until 2012, and were an original member of the Canadian Football League in 1958. The grounds feature a full-length soccer field with fixed goals, a clubhouse with bathrooms and a water fountain, and a 400-meter red clay track used by the Hamilton Track Dogs. A plaque near the main entrance on Charlton describes much of the grounds’ history, including Grey Cup games played there.
