HLA-B44
HLA-B44 (B44) is a type of HLA-B serotype, meaning it refers to the B*44 gene-allele protein products. B44 is a split antigen of the broader B12 group and is closely related to B45. People with B44 may have more frequent recurrent sinus and lung infections. It appears to be protective against autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome in people with a C95 defect (ALPS type Ia). B44 may act as a cofactor in ankylosing spondylitis.
