Gavin P. Marks is a brigadier general in the United States Air Force and the 31st Commandant of Cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy, a position he began in 2023 after succeeding Paul Moga.

He is a 1996 graduate of the Air Force Academy. He earned a Master of Science in Organizational Management from George Washington University in 2002 and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College in 2015. His early training included Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Pilot Instructor Training at Randolph Air Force Base (where he graduated at the top of his class), and Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base (Distinguished Graduate).

Marks has held several command and leadership roles. He served as Vice Commander of the 552d Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base from 2017 to 2019. He commanded the 99th Flying Training Squadron at Randolph AFB from 2012 to 2014, and later commanded the 55th Wing at Offutt AFB from 2019 to 2021. He then worked at the Pentagon as Director, Secretary, and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Executive Action Group.

As Commandant of Cadets, Marks focuses on cadet culture, morale, and discipline. Notable decisions in his tenure include changes to flight attire, restricting cadets to base, increasing military formations, and mandating social decorum dinners.

He has more than 3,400 flying hours. His awards include the Legion of Merit (three times), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two times), the Meritorious Service Medal (two times), and the Air Force Commendation Medal (two times).
