Francisco de Miranda National Experimental University
Francisco de Miranda National Experimental University (UNEFM) is a public university in Coro, Falcón state, Venezuela. It was founded on July 25, 1977, by President Carlos Andrés Pérez. Its motto is “The University for the Development Integral of the State Falcón.” UNEFM is part of the Ministry of Popular Power for University Education, Science, Technology (MPPEUCT).
Today UNEFM has about 32,000 students. The campus is located in the Rectorado Building, on Norte Street between Av. Manaure and Toledo Street. The school colors are blue and white. The university website is unefm.edu.ve.
UNEFM offers media and communications services, including a newspaper, a radio station (Unefm 104.1 FM), and an open TV channel (TV Unefm). By 2005, about 7,510 graduates had completed studies there. The institution has a partnership with PDVSA to give graduates work experience at the Amuay and Cardón refineries. It is named after Francisco de Miranda, a key figure in Venezuela’s War of Independence.
