Emil Zinner
Emil Zinner (23 August 1909 – 8 July 1942) was a Jewish-Czech chess master from Brno. In the 1930s he had several strong finishes, including a win at Králicky in 1929 and top finishes at Bilina (1930), Brno (1931), Moravska Ostrava (1933), Bad Liebenwerda (1934), Luhačovice (1935), Konstantinsbad (1935), Poděbrady (1936), and Prague (1937) — his best result was second place in Prague 1937 behind Paul Keres. He played for Czechoslovakia in the 3rd unofficial Chess Olympiad at Munich 1936, where he won an individual bronze medal on the third board (+14 –5 =1). He also played in the 7th Chess Olympiad at Stockholm 1937 on the third board (+9 –4 =4). Zinner was murdered at the Majdanek concentration camp in 1942.
