Egypt men's national handball team
The Egypt men’s national handball team, nicknamed The Pharaohs, is Egypt’s national team for international handball. It is run by the Egyptian Handball Federation and coached by Xavier Pascual Fuertes, with assistants Fernando Barbeito and Mohamed Ramadan.
Big competitions and results
- Summer Olympics: 8 appearances, first in 1992. Best finish: 4th place in 2020.
- IHF World Championship: 19 appearances, first in 1964. Best finish: 4th place in 2001.
- African Championship: 25 appearances, first in 1979. They have won many titles and are currently tied with Tunisia for the most African championships; they won again in 2026.

- The Pharaohs were the first non-European team to reach the World Championship semifinals.
- They were the first African team to reach the Olympic semifinals.
- Egypt hosted the World Championship in 1999.
Recent history
- 2019 World Championship: 8th place.
- 2021 World Championship (held with a 32-team format): 7th.
- 2020 Tokyo Olympics: 4th place after tough semifinal and bronze-medal games.
- 2026 African Championship: won their 10th continental title, beating Tunisia 37–24 in the final to equal Tunisia’s record.
Egypt is considered one of Africa’s strongest handball teams and continues to compete on the world stage.
