Edwin Hallowell
Edwin Hallowell (April 2, 1844 – September 13, 1916) was an American farmer and Democratic politician from Pennsylvania who served a single term in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1891 to 1893. Born near Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, he attended public schools and worked in farming. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1876 to 1879 and was the chairman of Montgomery County's Democratic committee in 1886. Hallowell was a delegate to the 1888 Democratic National Convention and to the convention that nominated Grover Cleveland for his second term. He was elected to the Fifty-second Congress but lost reelection in 1892. Health problems later led him to retire from public life, and he lived with his sister on a farm in Abington Township, resuming agricultural work. He died in Abington, Pennsylvania, and is buried at Abington Friends Burying Ground in Jenkintown.
