Eduard Kazarian
Eduard Kazarian, born in 1964 in Almaty, is a Kazakhstani sculptor of Armenian descent. He works with bronze, ceramics, and steel, and has also made tapestries, graphic works, and designer jewelry. Since the early 1990s he has exhibited widely in Kazakhstan and abroad, and his sculptures are held in public and corporate collections around the world.
He studied sculpture at the Almaty State Theater and Art Institute, graduating in 1991. His career includes numerous solo and group exhibitions in Kazakhstan and internationally.
In 2019, the Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Arts in Almaty hosted his solo show In the Artist's Studio, featuring bronze and ceramic works, monumental reliefs, and textile art. That year he also joined the group exhibition Triumvirart in Astana with fellow Kazakh artists Erbol Noda and Bakhytbek Bekeev. He has created public sculptures in Kazakhstan and beyond.
Kazarian is also active as a curator and cultural organizer. He co-curated the First Eurasian Sculpture Biennale during EXPO-2017 and founded the Kazarian Art Center in Almaty in 2015. His work often explores the relationship between humanity, nature, and the cosmos, using mythological or archetypal imagery in contemporary form.
