Dorrington, Lincolnshire
Dorrington is a small village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies about 1.2 miles south of Digby and just north of Ruskington, near the B1188 road. The nearest town is Sleaford, around 4 miles away. The population was 344 in 2011, up from 340 in 2001.
The village has a Grade I listed Anglican church, St James and St John, built mainly in the Decorated style. The east window features ogee canopied niches, and the tower once had a spire. A sculpture of the Last Judgment is on the exterior of the east window. The church sits on the B1188 about half a mile northwest of the village center and overlooks the village.
Frank Whittle lodged in a house in Dorrington while developing the jet engine at RAF Cranwell; the remains of this house lie near the church. There are also remains of a Grade II listed medieval ashlar cross in the village. The Peterborough to Lincoln railway line passes to the east of the village. The village pub is the Musicians Arms on Main Street.
