Doc Tonkin
Doc Tonkin (Harry Glenville Tonkin) was an American physician and professional baseball player who appeared in one major-league game for the Washington Senators in 1907. He was born August 11, 1881, in Concord, New Hampshire, and died May 30, 1959, in Miami, Florida. Tonkin batted and threw left-handed. In his brief Major League appearance, he pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed six hits and two earned runs, while collecting two hits in two at-bats for a perfect 1.000 batting average. He played in the minor leagues from 1905 to 1907 for three teams.
Tonkin attended Baltimore Medical College, later part of the University of Maryland, and ran a medical practice in Martinsburg, West Virginia, where he served three terms as mayor. During World War I, he was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He died in 1959 in Miami, Florida.
