Diocese of Bom Jesus do Gurguéia (Latin: Dioecesis Boni Iesu a Gurgueia) is a Latin Catholic diocese in the northeastern Brazilian state of Piauí. It belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Teresina, and its cathedral is the Catedral de Nossa Senhora das Mercês (Our Lady of Mercy) in Bom Jesus. The diocese follows the Roman Rite and was established on 18 June 1920. It covers an area of 53,583 square kilometers. As of 2004, about 161,532 people lived there, with around 143,832 Catholics (89%). The diocese is led by Bishop Marcos Antônio Tavoni, and the Metropolitan Archbishop is Jacinto Furtado de Brito Sobrinho.
