Dimas Zegarra
Dimas Darío Zegarra Castillo (19 December 1932 – 20 July 2023) was a Peruvian soccer goalkeeper nicknamed "Superman" for his agility.
Club career
He spent most of his career with Universitario de Deportes, from 1952 to 1966, making 238 appearances. He helped the club win the league three times (1959, 1960, 1964) and played 12 Copa Libertadores matches in 1961, 1965, and 1966. Earlier, he played for Sporting Tabaco (1949–1950) and Unión Callao (1951). In 1967 he joined Porvenir Miraflores, a newly promoted second-division club, which was his last known team.
International career
Zegarra earned 14 caps for Peru from 1956 to 1970, conceding 29 goals. He was the starting goalkeeper for Peru at the 1956 South American Championship in Uruguay, appearing in five matches.
Death
Dimas Zegarra died on 20 July 2023 in Lima, at the age of 90.
