Dick Wombwell
Richard "Dick" Wombwell (1877–1943) was an English footballer from Nottingham who played mainly as a forward (often listed as a winger). He played for several clubs in the early 1900s, including Derby County, Bristol City, Manchester United, Heart of Midlothian, Brighton & Hove Albion, Blackburn Rovers, Ilkeston Town and Ilkeston United. In total, he made about 269 league appearances and scored 44 goals. A highlight of his career came when he scored the winning goal for Brighton in a famous 1908 upset of Preston North End. He died in 1943 at about 66 years old.
