Dawit Yohannes
Dawit Yohannes (Amharic: ዳዊት ዮሐንስ; 10 October 1956 – 28 January 2019) was an Ethiopian politician and diplomat. He was the first Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Peoples' Representatives, serving from 1995 to 2005. He later served as Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2006 to 2011. Born in Addis Ababa, he studied at Addis Ababa University and Georgetown University, and earned a Master of Laws from the University of Amsterdam in 2000. He was married and had three children. Dawit Yohannes died in the United States on 28 January 2019, aged 62.
