D'Atra Hicks, born Deitra Cherelle Hicks on December 27, 1967, in Harlem, New York, is an American actress and singer. She grew up singing in her grandfather’s church choir and, with her sister Miriam, formed a group called The Hicks Sisters. Their demo impressed Broadway producers and Hicks landed the lead role of Doris Winter in the off-Broadway musical Mama I Want to Sing!, a part she played from 1986 to 1990. She signed with Capitol Records in 1989 and released a self-titled debut album on September 9, 1989. The album reached number 63 on the Top R&B Albums chart and stayed on the chart for 10 weeks.

Hicks later appeared in Tyler Perry’s stage plays, including Madea’s Family Reunion (2002) as Jackie Simmons and What’s Done in the Dark (2006) as Nurse Trudy. She also starred as Niecy in Laugh to Keep from Crying (2009). In 2018 she contributed vocals to Earnest Pugh’s album The UnSung Hits Vol. 1. Hicks joined a Bravo reality show in 2018, Your Husband is Cheating On Us, alongside other celebrities. She is the older sister of Taral Hicks and has a child named Diamond Grant with actor Tony Grant. Regarding her relationship with Loren Harper, they appeared to be married on Divorce Court twice, but some reports say those marriages were staged as television sketches.
