Cody Baker
Cody Baker (born January 7, 2004) is an American professional soccer defender who plays for Sacramento Republic FC on loan from Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer. He was born in Issaquah, Washington, and is 5 feet 10 inches tall. He can play as a center-back or a right-back.
Baker joined the Seattle Sounders academy in 2018, starting as a center-back before moving to right-back. He made his professional debut for Tacoma Defiance, the Sounders’ USL Championship team, on May 13, 2021, coming on as a 79th-minute substitute in a 3–1 win over San Diego Loyal. He signed with Tacoma Defiance on July 21, 2021.
In 2023, he was called up by Seattle for a U.S. Open Cup match against San Diego Loyal, played the full game, and provided an assist. He signed a short-term agreement with the Sounders in April 2023, made his MLS debut as a substitute on May 7, 2023 against Sporting Kansas City, and earned his first MLS start the following week against Houston Dynamo. On May 16, 2023, he signed a four-year Homegrown Player contract with Seattle.
On September 8, 2025, Baker was loaned to Sacramento Republic FC in the USL Championship for the rest of the season to gain more playing time. Career stats: Tacoma Defiance 35 appearances, 1 goal; Seattle Sounders FC 25 appearances, 0 goals; Sacramento Republic FC (on loan) 6 appearances, 0 goals (as of October 30, 2025).
