City Mantis
City Mantis is an electric scooter/personal transporter made by City Mantis USA (ADX USA Inc). It first appeared in 2002 at a Cycle Show and is known for its foldable design, making it easy to store or carry. It was named the most innovative new product of 2003.
The City Mantis blends bike and scooter features. It has an aluminum frame and runs on two 12-volt replaceable gel batteries inside the body. It can travel about 10–18 miles and max out at 16 mph (26 km/h). It weighs about 20–22 kg and can carry up to 35 kg.
The suspension is adjustable on both front and rear, and it can fold in one or two steps. Colors include Metallic Silver, Black, Blue, Rosso Red, Neon Lime, and Purple.
There are two models: City Mantis (standard) and City Mantis XP (more features). The XP adds extra front lighting and uses a key ignition. All models remind riders to wear protective gear and to not exceed the 35 kg load. The City Mantis name was trademarked in 2003 for electric scooters.
