Charonne quarter
Charonne is a quarter in the southern half of Paris’s 20th arrondissement. It used to be its own municipality, but in 1860 Napoleon III merged it into Paris and split the area into three quarters: Charonne (the southern part), Père-Lachaise, and Saint-Fargeau. The historic center lies where Rue de Bagnolet meets Rue Saint-Blaise, near the church Saint-Germain-de-Charonne (which is in the Père-Lachaise quarter). The metro stop called Charonne is named after Rue de Charonne in the Bastille area (11th arrondissement) and is not located in the Charonne quarter itself.
